Not financial or tax advice

RetireSmarter provides free educational calculators and informational content for general purposes only. Nothing on this site constitutes financial, tax, investment, or legal advice. We are not financial advisors, tax professionals, CPAs, or fiduciaries. Using our calculators does not create any advisory or professional relationship between you and RetireSmarter.

Consult a qualified professional

Before making any financial decisions — including Roth conversions, Social Security claiming strategies, Medicare planning, or investment choices — consult with a qualified financial advisor, tax professional, CPA, or attorney who can evaluate your specific situation. Calculator results are starting points for conversation, not final answers.

Accuracy of calculations

We strive to keep our calculators accurate and updated with current IRS tax brackets, IRMAA thresholds, and relevant figures. However, we cannot guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any calculation or information on this site. Tax laws change, sometimes mid-year, and individual circumstances vary enormously.

Our calculators use 2026 tax figures and IRMAA thresholds as currently understood, including projected changes from the One Big Beautiful Budget Act (OBBBA). These figures are our best estimates and may not reflect final enacted law.

No guarantees

Calculator results are estimates based on the inputs you provide and simplified mathematical assumptions. Your actual tax liability, Medicare premiums, retirement income, and investment returns will differ from any projections. Past tax law is not a reliable predictor of future tax law.

Calculator limitations

Our calculators have important limitations you should understand:

  • Federal taxes only. We model federal income tax and Medicare. We do not account for state income taxes, which vary by state and can be significant.
  • No AMT. We do not model the Alternative Minimum Tax.
  • No NIIT. The Net Investment Income Tax (3.8% on investment income above certain thresholds) is not included.
  • Simplified assumptions. Our models use constant growth rates, constant-dollar assumptions, and simplified Social Security taxation rules. Real-world outcomes will differ.
  • Not a substitute for professional analysis. These tools should not be the sole basis for any financial decision.

Third-party links

Our site may contain links to third-party websites, including IRS publications, CMS resources, and other financial information sites. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or privacy practices of any external sites. A link does not constitute an endorsement.
